Welcome

At the Leicester Navy Cadets, we take pride in developing young people into confident, skilled, and disciplined individuals.

Our unit offers a unique opportunity for cadets to experience the traditions of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, while gaining valuable life skills, qualifications, and unforgettable experiences. From adventurous training and waterborne activities to leadership development and teamwork, we provide a well-rounded program that prepares cadets for future success—whether in the military, civilian careers, or further education.

We are proud of our dedicated volunteers, our strong sense of camaraderie, and our commitment to supporting personal growth in every cadet. With excellent facilities, structured training, and an ethos of respect and determination, Leicester Navy Cadets is more than just a youth organisation—it’s a family.

Our Timeline

March 2014

Founding Year

Training Ship Cutlass was founded by a small group of volunteers on the 3rd of March 2014.

Based in Braunstone, it was the first independent Naval and Marine themed youth organisation in Leicester.

August 2016

Peak Week

The organisation held it's first annual Marine training camp in Owston, Leicestershire, designed to put the skills of the Marine Detachment to the test.

Since then, Peak Week has become a highly anticipated annual tradition within the organisation.

October 2016

Expansion

Due to the success of TS Cutlass, a second unit, Training Ship Sabre was founded.

Operating from Anstey, Leicestershire, this allowed the organisation to reach  a wider community of young people across both the city and county.
